A new Czech-Slovak version of Naked Attraction, a dating show in which participants choose partners while fully nude, premieres Monday on streaming platform Prima+, two days before its TV broadcast on Óčko. The show has drawn international attention for its provocative format, sparking debates about decency, media standards, and sexual content.
The series challenges traditional dating norms by placing nudity at the center of romantic choice. Its launch reflects a broader cultural trend of airing daring content on local television and streaming platforms, and signals increased collaboration between Prima+ and Óčko in delivering early-access programming.
Czech version of a controversial format
Naked Attraction originated in the United Kingdom, airing on Channel 4 from 2016 to 2024, and repeatedly drew complaints from viewers due to full-frontal nudity, though regulators found no rules violations.
In the United States, the HBO Max version was criticized by the Parents Television and Media Council as “pornographic,” fueling calls for its removal.
TV Óčko has aired the international editions of the show since 2020, and they consistently rank among the station's most popular programs. The Czech-Slovak adaptation combines these international precedents with local stories, emphasizing diversity, authenticity, and a mix of emotional and physical storytelling.
In each episode, one participant selects a partner from five naked contestants, revealed progressively from feet to head. The show includes LGBTQ+ episodes and participants of varying ages and body types.
Czech actress Monika Timková hosts, providing guidance and commentary while emphasizing respect for participants’ personal stories and experiences.
“I was genuinely looking forward to this project, and I have to say it was one of the best shoots I’ve ever experienced,” she says. “By having the participants naked, a special kind of freedom emerges. No one is pretending, no one is hiding. And I feel enormous respect for these people—for their courage, honesty, and openness.”
Production and streaming strategy
Filming for the Czech version of Naked Attraction involved 20 shooting dates and more than 85 participants. The production emphasized participant well-being, with a therapist on set and strict measures to maintain privacy.
Episodes will be available on streaming platform Prima+ before their TV Óčko broadcast, marking a first in Czech television for a show produced by one channel but premiered on another platform.
“The project opens the door for further inter-television synergies, which could expand offerings for Prima+ subscribers in the future,” says Jan Maxa, director of VOD services at Prima.
The first season consists of ten episodes airing through December, with two special “best of” editions. A second season is planned for spring 2026, continuing to push boundaries in local entertainment while drawing on the global controversy that has accompanied the format since its debut.
