In a little over two months, the EU will begin gradually rolling out its new Entry/Exit System (EES) – a new high-tech procedure that will change how non-EU travelers enter and exit the Schengen Area, including Czechia.

The system is designed to replace manual passport stamping with digital registration of all short-stay visits by third-country nationals (including non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens). If you are from the UK, the U.S., Canada, or Australia, you'll feel the change. One reason for its design is to better track Schengen visa overstays.

"The launch...of the system sets up a step closer in making the EU the most advanced travel destination in the world," said Henna Virkkunen, the EU's Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy.
