When was the last time you updated your CV? If you’re like most job seekers in Czechia, the answer might be “too long ago.” A new survey by recruitment agency Grafton Recruitment found that only a third of candidates regularly update or adapt their CVs when applying for jobs, even though it’s often the first and most crucial step in landing an interview.

And with unemployment at 4.4 percent in July (representing over 329,000 people out of work), competition is real. On average, there are 3.4 candidates for every vacancy. In some regions, it’s even tougher: in Karviná, almost 25 people compete for a single position, while in parts of Prague the numbers swing the other way, with fewer applicants than open jobs.
