A Big Bold Beautiful Journey follows two lonely hearts played by Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie as they embark on an improbable road trip guided by a mysterious GPS. Along the way, they revisit formative memories and confront personal issues, encountering magical doors that transport them to past experiences.
The Prague Reporter notes that the film’s “emotional resonance is undeniable; there are scenes here that will have even the harshest cynics tearing up,” highlighting its blend of whimsical storytelling, character-focused drama, and Joe Hisaishi's elegant score.
Worldwide smash hit Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle opened in local cinemas a few weeks ago in its original Japanese version with Czech subtitles, and it is now screening with English subtitles at Prague's Kino Světozor for non-Czech-speaking audiences.
The film has earned over $600 million (CZK 12.5 billion) globally in just three weeks, making it the highest-grossing Japanese movie ever and one of the highest-grossing movies of 2025. The movie adapts the manga’s climactic arc, following Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Demon Slayer Corps as they enter the shifting Infinity Castle to battle Muzan Kibutsuji and his Upper Rank demons.
Through firsthand accounts and battlefield footage, the documentary Summertime in Ukraine captures the experiences of foreign volunteers who joined Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence (DIU) International Legion to fight against Russian forces. The English-language documentary is now playing in limited engagements at Czech cinemas, including a screening on Oct. 7 at Prague’s Edison Filmhub. Proceeds from the film support the DIU International Legion.

Play Dirty follows master criminal Parker (Mark Wahlberg) as he navigates a deadly web of betrayal and heists while pursuing both treasure and revenge. Set during Christmas in a stylized New York City, the film blends fast-paced action with director Shane Black’s trademark humor.
The Prague Reporter says that Play Dirty is “a well-crafted, fast-paced action-comedy with clever set pieces, stylish direction, and strong supporting performances,” highlighting its combination of thrilling heist sequences and comedic moments. Now streaming on Prime Video.
The new series Monster: The Ed Gein Story explores the life and crimes of the infamous serial killer and body snatcher from Plainfield, Wisconsin. Charlie Hunnam stars as Gein, portraying the grim and disturbing aspects of his life while examining the events that led to his notorious acts.
The season delves into Gein’s early life, his interactions with the local community, and the crimes that inspired films such as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs. The entire eight-episode season of Monster: The Ed Gein Story is now streaming on Netflix.
🇨🇿 Czech Film Festivals
The second edition of Press Play Prague, a film festival dedicated to journalism and media, runs Oct. 7–11 at Kino Atlas. Organized by Deník Referendum, Project Syndicate, and Kino Atlas under the theme “Journalism Under Pressure,” the festival explores how reporters navigate censorship, political intimidation, and ethical challenges amid rising global mistrust of the press.
This year's Be2Can Film Festival runs Oct. 8–15 in Prague and other Czech cities, presenting a selection of standout films from festivals in Cannes, Berlin, and Venice. Opening at Kino Lucerna with the Mother Teresa biopic Mother, the program features twelve films ranging from political dramas and thrillers to animation and restored classics.
