Prague will host the TEDxPragueCountdown conference on Sept. 20–21 at the city's Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning (CAMP), bringing together eight international speakers to present actionable solutions for ecosystems and sustainability.
The event includes workshops, case studies, and networking opportunities designed to turn global practices into local initiatives. All TEDx talks and workshops at the two-day event will be held in English.
The conference aims to make sustainable solutions tangible, showing how practices from cities like London, Berlin, and Copenhagen can be adapted locally. Attendees will see how investments, agricultural innovations, and urban design can directly impact communities and daily life.
Speakers and practical solutions
Featured speakers include Hana Sahulová Součková, a Czech farmer demonstrating regenerative agriculture; David Šohaj Minařík, CEO of Myco, which produces packaging from mushrooms; and Dr. Anna Kšírová of Doctors for Future, connecting climate change to health outcomes.
Other experts include Kateřina Eklová on sustainable architecture, Zak Avery on community transformation, and Ladislav Miko, former Minister of Environment, on European environmental policy.
Sessions will cover topics such as circular economy, forest therapy, and community-building, combining presentations with hands-on workshops. Organizers emphasize the practical application of ideas rather than theoretical debates.
The conference highlights solutions that could influence housing, local food production, and urban spaces. Regenerative farming, for instance, can absorb up to 10 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare annually, while innovations in construction and packaging could reduce waste and energy costs. Health-related discussions will examine climate impacts on public well-being and strategies to mitigate risk.
Organizers say the conference is designed to spark collaboration, equipping participants with knowledge, tools, and connections to implement sustainable practices in everyday life. Follow-up activities and local initiatives may offer opportunities for continued engagement beyond the event.
Local focus, global perspective
TEDxPragueCountdown also reflects broader institutional and governmental priorities in sustainability. Czech environmental policy increasingly promotes renewable energy, circular economy initiatives, and green investments, aligning with European Union targets to reduce emissions and promote resilient urban ecosystems.
International experts will discuss finance and social enterprise approaches, including doughnut economics and sustainable investment strategies, providing insight into how local initiatives can be scaled and funded.
Globally, costs for solar energy have dropped by nearly 90 percent over the past decade, while mycelium networks now connect up to 90 percent of plant species, illustrating how scientific and technological advances are reshaping sustainability strategies. The conference situates Czech initiatives within these wider trends.
The conference and workshops will be conducted in English and have a capacity of 200 attendees. Tickets are available via GoOut, with student discounts and VIP packages offering priority seating and gift packages. Additional information can be found at the event website.
