UPDATE (1:30 p.m): Electricity is now fully restored throughout most of Prague. Trams in the city center were temporarily halted, particularly along and nearby Wenceslas Square, and the metro saw a short outage. Shops, including Primark in the center, were evacuated. Prague firefighters rescued three people stuck in elevators.
Parts of the Czech capital, mainly the city center, Nusle, and Vinohrady (Prague 1, 2, and 4), have been left without electricity in the last hour due to a malfunction at a Prague Energy Company (PRE) substation. Preliminary reports suggest the outage was caused by a rupture in a power cable.

The outage has disrupted daily life in the affected areas. Tram traffic is temporarily restricted, with large hold-ups forming near Wenceslas Square and beyond. Shops in the square were briefly evacuated as a precaution, according to a report from Czech media outlet iDnes.cz.
As iDnes writes, in some restaurants and hair salons staff and customers improvised, moving tables, chairs, and equipment outside to continue their activities.

PRE says it has quickly redirected power to the network, and electricity has been restored as of 12:15 p.m. The company estimates that, under normal circumstances, repairs would not take long, and service should have returned to all affected areas by the early afternoon.
Hanzelka confirmed that no outages have been reported in Prague’s surrounding regions.
