If you’ve filled up your car in different parts of Czechia lately, you’ve probably noticed big price differences. Even stations just a few kilometers apart can vary by several crowns per liter enough to add hundreds of crowns to the cost of a full tank.

Analysts say it’s not about fuel quality (which is legally the same nationwide) but about pricing strategy, location, and extra services.

According to Petr Lajsek, analyst at finance firm Purple Trading, “the price spread can be as much as CZK 10 per liter, which adds around CZK 500 for a full tank.”
