Metro service on Prague's yellow B line between Florenc and Vysočanská stations will be suspended this weekend and next due to trackbed work tied to the reconstruction of Českomoravská station, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) confirmed in a press release Friday.
The closures will run from the start of service Saturday, Aug. 16, through the end of service Sunday, Aug. 17, and again from Saturday, Aug. 23, through Sunday, Aug. 24. Service between Zličín and Florenc will operate on a standard holiday timetable.
Because Vysočanská station has no turning tracks, metro service between Černý Most and Vysočanská will run on a single track, with passengers transferring at Hloubětín between connecting trains, DPP said.
To maintain connectivity, DPP will operate replacement tram line XB on the route Florenc–Křižíkova–Invalidovna–Palmovka–Balabenka–Vysočany Station–Vysočanská. Regular tram line 12 will also serve as a substitute, while lines 3 and 8 will provide alternate service between Florenc and Palmovka.
Inputting your journey on the DPP website (available in English) will allow you to check whether your commute or planned route will be disrupted. You may also plan your route and see all changes via the PID Lítačka phone app.
Czech Railways (ČD) will add special train service on line S2X, running from Masaryk Station through Praha-Vysočany and Praha-Rajská zahrada to Praha-Horní Počernice. CityElefant trains with over 300 seats will depart Masaryk Station at the 1st and 31st minute past the hour from 6:01 a.m. to 10:01 p.m., returning from Horní Počernice at the 2nd and 35th minutes from 6:02 a.m. to 10:02 p.m.
The Českomoravská station overhaul began Jan. 6 and was originally slated to finish by year’s end. However, inspections revealed that some supporting structures were in significantly worse condition than anticipated, requiring extra work.
According to DPP spokesperson Aneta Řehková, the station closure will now extend into the first quarter of 2026, and additional weekend shutdowns will be necessary.
In separate news, DPP said it has completed tram track repairs in the Bílá Hora area two weeks ahead of schedule. Regular service on the Vypich – Bílá Hora section will resume Saturday, Aug. 16.
